Okay to Kiss? Breath Check Info
Here is intriguing info on the “OKay to Kiss” Breath Test, by guest blogger Gavin Nachbar:
Ahh the dreaded breath check.
Whether it’s the, “Here, how does my breath smell?” friend check, or the puff into your cupped hands check, one way or another, keeping tabs on your breath throughout a date has become a long practiced art form. For those daters, though, who were never able to master the breath check, have no fear, the OkayToKiss kit is here.
Scientists Mel Rosenberg and Dr. Nir Sterer developed this new product with those less fortunate daters in mind. The pocket-sized breath test works by swabbing a small piece of plastic in your mouth, and then dabbing some salvia on that. Much like a pregnancy test, your results show up on the screen, with blue indicating it’s time to grab some mouthwash. (The OkayToKiss kit actually has the same Biomarkers that many popular pregnancy tests use too.)
The researchers found that the human mouth contains a certain enzyme (produced by ‘Gram-positive bacteria’), that when active, produce bad breath causing bacteria. The OkayToKiss kit tests to see if those certain enzymes are present in the dater’s mouth, and responds accordingly. Through laboratory testing, it was discovered that this certain bacteria is the main culprit in causing bad breath.
So daters be on the lookout for this new product to hit the shelves in the near future, and you may never have to breathe into your cupped hands again.
